Community Based Amateur Boxing Club

#Strongtogether

Club Ethos

Boxing challenges participants both mentally and physically, consequently our club is about more than staying in shape or losing weight, this is about your empowerment, feeling and becoming stronger, inside, and out.

We are here to help you build confidence, learn new disciplines, acquire skills  and engage with the sport of boxing whilst developing a respect for those people around you. At Strong Box Gym you must Respect your family, friends, and community.

All our coaches, trustees and volunteers are unpaid, fully DBS checked, First Aid trained and are giving up their time to work for the benefit of their community.

Community is at the heart of everything we do.

We are here to train together, sweat together and become #strongtogether

If you wish to be considered for amateur boxing, please speak to one of our coaching team prior to attending training nights

Our coaches will be pleased to assess, advise, and guide you towards joining the amateur boxing club.

Charity

Strong Box is a registered charity whose aim is to promote community participation in healthy sports by providing suitable facilities for fitness based around amateur and recreational boxing.

The organisation was set up by the donors and trustees who provided the initial expertise and funding to enable the formation of the gym and amateur club.

All our coaches, trustees and other volunteers are unpaid and are giving up their time to work for the benefit of their community, their passion for boxing and belief in the sport of boxing as a force for good.

We rely on the help of donations, sponsors, and our modest gym fees to keep the doors open and the lights on.

Like all charities we are of course always short of money, so we are looking for business and individuals who may be able to provide grants, sponsorship, or other financial support to the club.

If this is could be you, please contact the charities CEO Seb Scilly to discuss further.

Boxing development and fitness

Anyone who is new to boxing or would like to build on their boxing fitness and develop fundamental boxing technique should join our

Boxing development and Fitness classes.

These sessions will involve a  warm up, bag work, coaching and pad work, non-contact boxing drills alongside functional fitness activities.

You will need to attend all classes at least five minutes before the start time, have loose fitting clothing suitable for training, flat soled trainers, and a cold non fizzy drink.

If you have your own hand wraps & boxing gloves, please remember to bring these along.

We have a minimal selection of club gloves for routine use, but these may not always be available and may have been used by other participants before you.
